  • This record describes SVP data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2022_V08, titled "Biodiversity Assessment of Australia’s Indian Ocean Territories", which departed Darwin on September 30 and returned to Fremantle on November 3, 2022. This was a continuation of voyage IN2021_v04. A total of 44 SVP casts were conducted over the duration of this voyage using the Valeport MIDAS SVX2 sound velocity profiler, with 5 casts considered as failed due to low battery issues (i.e. SVX2_009, 010, 023, 027 & 037). This instrument was attached to the CTD frame and deployed with the CTD casts, therefore SVP & CTD share common deployment cast numbers. Data are stored in ASCII format files with extention *.000 at CSIRO. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Additional data products may be available on request.

  • This record describes SVP data collected on the RV Investigator voyage IN2023_V04, International nutrient inter-comparison Voyage (INIV) which departed Hobart on the 05/06/23 and returned to Hobart on the 18/06/23. A total of 84 SVP casts were conducted over the duration of this voyage. Data are stored in ASCII format files with extention *.000 and *.asvp at CSIRO. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Additional data products may be available on request.

  • This record describes SVP data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2021_E02, to calibrate and commission new, upgraded and existing critical equipment (with sea trials and personnel training) onboard RV Investigator for upcoming voyages in the 2021 schedule and beyond. The primary objectives for this voyage were testing the Deep Corer winch stream and respool, Trawling winch calibration, CTD winch 1 & 2 calibrations, HOTS commissioning and Heave Compensation testing, and Deep Towed Camera trial and calibration. The voyage took place between November 20 and November 28, 2021, departing from Hobart (TAS) and returning to Hobart. A total of 44 SVP casts were conducted over the duration of this voyage. Data are stored in ASCII format files with extention *.000 at CSIRO. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Additional data products may be available on request.

  • This record describes SVP data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2023_V02, titled "Gigantic submarine landslide offshore western Tasmania: risk mitigation for shelf derived tsunami in Australia", which departed Hobart on March 24 and returned to Hobart on April 30, 2023. A total of 17 SVP casts were conducted over the duration of this voyage using a combination of the Valeport MIDAS SVX2 sound velocity profiler (13 casts) and rapidCast SVP (4 casts). The Valeport MIDAS SVX2 was attached to the CTD frame and deployed with the CTD casts, therefore SVP & CTD share common deployment cast numbers. In addition to the SVP cast data, 164 SV profiles were derived from SST (sea surface temperature) data with climatology. Data are stored in ASCII format files at CSIRO. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Additional data products may be available on request.
